CIMA Releases 2016 Banking Statistical Digest

Grand Cayman (18 December 2017) – The Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA) is pleased to announce the release of its third edition of the Banking Statistical Digest. The report builds on the information and analysis presented in the second edition of the Banking Sector Digest issued in 2015, providing a macro-prudential assessment of the health and soundness, trends and vulnerabilities of the entire banking sector.

This edition of the Banking Statistical Digest also presents an overview of the banking sector by reviewing the balance sheet composition, earnings and profitability and financial soundness indicators on the health and soundness of the sector as at fiscal year-end 2016. The digest also highlights the importance of the Cayman Islands as a financial intermediary, providing statistical details on the cross border flow of transactions. The digest also provides a detailed analysis of the Category ‘A’ banks, with emphasis on the retail commercial banking sector.
