Analyst I & Analyst II – Banking Supervision Division


RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will:
• Gather and analyze Quarterly Prudential Returns, financial statements, and other information (e.g. Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Processes (ICAAPs)) to assess capital adequacy ensuring licensees engage in activities that are in compliance with applicable acts, regulations and regulatory
guidelines;
• Process applications and prepare submissions and reports for new licence applications or cancellations, change in ownerships, and amendments to the business plan;
• Prepare and disseminate all correspondence required to ensure accurate and timely record keeping and proactive supervisory practices;
• Prepare relevant pre-meeting notes/data and participate and take concise minutes in meetings with licensees;
• Investigate complaints or matters that may arise as they relate to customers of regulated licensees; and escalates appropriately, to the respective supervisory with sound suggestions towards resolution;
• Participate in inspecting licensee’s on-site records to determine the risk management and business operations;
• Attend, participate, and minute interviews with the managers or senior officers of licensees and auditors;
• Draft pre-inspection and inspection reports to determine inspection scopes and actions for improvement;
• Gather, analyse, and produce statistics with respect to the financial industry;
• Gather information and contribute to the supervisory reports produced by the division; and
• Assist with relevant special projects for the division that may be assigned by the Head, Deputy Heads or supervisors.

REQUIREMENTS:
• A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution – preference given to degrees in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or Economics;
• Two to three years’relevant experience in the finance, financial accounting, auditing, or banking industry; or one to two years’regulatory experience from within CIMA or a similar regulatory body
• A professional qualification such as CPA, ACCA, CAMS, FRM would be an asset.
• Good knowledge of auditing, accounting principles, and analytical skills to analyze the implications of financial statements and ICAAPs as they relate to financial institutions;
• Good knowledge of the Banks and Trust Companies Act, Regulations, and relevant Rules, Statements of Guidance and Policies relating to the supervision of banks and non-bank financial institutions would be highly advantageous and beneficial;
• Ability to interpret and apply various laws within a financial analytical context;
• Excellent written and oral communication skills;
• Ability to identify and escalate pertinent issues to the respective supervisor as they relate to financial institutions or international standards;
• Good knowledge of the Capital Adequacy framework including current international regulatory practices, especially those promulgated by the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision and the Bank for International Settlements would be beneficial; and
• Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications, especially MS Excel, Word, SharePoint, and PowerPoint

Salary: CI$ $48,972 - $ 72,912 per annum
