Acting in a strategic and tactical capacity, the Chief Human Resources Officer (“CHRO”) has ultimate responsibility and is accountable for the strategic development of goals, objectives and programmes that proactively assist CIMA in achieving its mission and mandate. The CHRO is accountable for identifying needs and determining solutions through the Recruitment, Employee Services and the Learning and Development Units to ensure that the organization operates in an efficient and effective manner and that the employees have the necessary support to achieve success.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will:
• Defines operational, strategic and tactical objectives for inclusion in CIMA’s strategic plan towards proactively identifying and recommending strategies and objectives to address CIMA’s changing needs through analysis, programme development, leadership and partnership across all CIMA Divisions;
• Evaluates best practice in human resources management, conducts relevant research and advisory services to develop project proposals for approval and inclusion in the annual budget;
• Identifies and reports significant matters of interest or concern through reporting to the Board of Directors through the Chief Operations Officer;
• Provides leadership and guidance by developing, implementing, and equitably administrating human resources programmes, policies and procedures designed to foster equitable human resources practices and a positive work environment;
• Ensures the safety of employees on implementation and/or application of the Crisis Management / Business Continuity programme to mitigate risks in the event of emergencies and disasters;
• Develops, directs, and delegates the creation and maintenance of human resources systems, statistics, and employee information to ensure accurate record keeping and effective reporting;
• Analyzes and recommends on–going changes to processes and operations that positively impact the Division and CIMA such as re-organization, workload and workflow improvements, staff development and other actions that enhance customer service, productivity, and efficiency;
• Ensures that the Division operates in compliance with CIMA’s Human Resources policies and procedures and that people are treated in a fair, consistent and transparent manner to promote a professional work environment and professional workforce;
• Provides leadership that inspires others to succeed and develop, and generously share experience, knowledge, and ideas – lead by example;
• Is a positive ambassador at conferences, meetings and events and presents information, and makes recommendations to improve the operations of the Division and/or CIMA.
REQUIREMENTS:
• A Bachelors’ degree in Business Administration, or a Degree or Professional Certification in Human Resources is required;
• Ten (10) years of experience at a senior Human Resources Management level in a large or medium sized organization;
• Six (6) or more years of experience in Strategic Planning, leadership and developing HR initiatives;
• Project Management experience is advantageous;
• Broad experience in all aspects of human resources, particularly in the financial services field;
• Eight (8) or more years of experience providing advice, training and support to managers and employees;
• Eight (8) or more years of experience developing and administering human resource policies and programmes;
• Proven years of experience developing, implementing and analyzing human resources and managerial practices at a minimum of six (6) years.
• Expert knowledge of the application of labour laws and dispute resolution and grievance handling procedures;
• Well-developed understanding of organizational development and behaviour; and
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
