(Grand Cayman - Friday, 12 May 2017) The Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA) is especially proud to unveil its 20th Anniversary commemorative coin. The design was created by one of its Chief Analysts, Mr. Gordon Panton, following an in-house coin design competition.

As part of the competition, participants were asked to come up with a design that represents the true spirit of CIMA.

Mr. Panton described his design as simple and eye-catching which “reflects the nautical theme of the Authority’s crest and its quarterly newsletter ‘The Navigator’.”

He added, “In keeping with the Cayman Islands Coat of Arms, the design incorporates the three islands while the compass signifies the Authority ‘charting the course’ for the financial sector.”

As the winner of the competition, Mr. Panton received a complimentary commemorative coin and is credited on the coin’s Certificate of Authenticity.

The coin is now available for purchase at the Government Administration Building. The selling price is CI$61.12 or US$75.00.

For more information on obtaining this coin, please contact CIMA’s Currency Division on the ground floor of the Government Administration Building, 133 Elgin Avenue, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., at extension 244-1596, or by email at contactcurrency@cima.ky.
