Justine Plenkiewicz was promoted to Head of the Policy and Development Division on August 1, 2014. Prior to her appointment to this post, she served as Acting Head from December 23, 2013.
Ms. Plenkiewicz is responsible for managing and overseeing research in the area of financial sector regulation and supervision. She oversees the strategic development of policies and statistics, the provision of advice on policy issues and makes recommendations on changes to policy and legislation for the financial sector. Ms. Plenkiewicz is responsible for researching, identifying and advising on key international, global and local developments and on the advancement and improvement of the regulatory regime through the development of timely and effective instruments. She regularly represents the Authority at meetings of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors and the Group of International Insurance Centre Supervisors.
Ms. Plenkiewicz previously held the position as the Deputy Head, Regulatory and Administration, Policy and Development Division, which she was appointed to on September 1, 2013. As Deputy Head, her primary responsibilities included monitoring local and international developments relating to the regulation of financial services, directing research relating to the regulation of financial services and overseeing the development of regulatory measures.
With over 13 years of experience, Ms. Plenkiewicz joined the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority in 2007. She earned a B.A. in Communications and Bachelor of Law, both at the University of Ottawa (Canada). She also holds a Master’s degree in Law and Economics and a Master’s degree in Public Administration. Ms. Plenkiewicz is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada (2002).
