
Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands – 25 August 2026 - The Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (“CIMA” or “the Authority”) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Geron Burnett as Deputy Head of the Securities Supervision Division, effective 1 June 2026.
Mr. Burnett brings more than 20 years of experience in financial services and securities markets, spanning securities regulation and compliance, market operations, trading, clearing and settlement, investor education, and market development.
In his new role, Mr. Burnett will support the administration and oversight of the Authority’s regulatory and supervisory framework for the securities sector, including the supervision of regulated entities, development and implementation of supervisory practices, and promotion of compliance with applicable legislative and regulatory requirements.
Prior to joining CIMA, Mr. Burnett served as Senior Manager of the Operations Division at the Eastern Caribbean Securities Exchange (ECSE). He previously held the position of Assistant Operations Manager at the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange (TTSE).
“Mr. Burnett’s extensive experience in securities market operations, regulatory compliance and market development will further strengthen the Authority’s supervisory capacity. His practical understanding of regional capital markets will be valuable as CIMA continues to enhance its risk-based approach to supervision and maintain a robust regulatory framework for the Cayman Islands’ securities sector,” stated Acting Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Patrick Bodden.
Mr. Burnett holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the University of the West Indies and an International MBA with a specialisation in Finance from the Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business.
