The Freedom of Information Act gives the public a general right of access to all types of records held by Cayman's public authorities, with some exceptions. CIMA is fully committed to the objectives of the law: openness, transparency and accountability and greater public participation in decision making.
Section 15 of the Freedom of Information Act lists the exemptions to the general right of access to records.
Section 3(1)(c) of the Freedom of Information Act is that the law does not cover any records and information protected by Section 50 of the Monetary Authority Act.
As required by Section 5 of the Freedom of Information Act, CIMA maintains a publication scheme through which we proactively publish as much information relating to our functions and work as is permissible.
