(Grand Cayman - Thursday, 6 April 2017) The Cayman Islands Monetary Authority invites families of all ages to sign up for its 5K/10K Walk/Run charity event which will take place on Sunday, 21 May, 2017. The event is part of the Authority’s 20th Anniversary celebration which was recognised earlier this year on 1 January.

The route will start and end at Elizabethan Square, George Town at 6:00 a.m. Participants are asked to arrive by 5:30 a.m. The entry cost for adults is $20 and children 12 and under is $10. To register, visit www.caymanactive.com. The registration deadline is Friday, 19 May 2017. The first 200 registrants will receive a complimentary event t-shirt. All proceeds will benefit the development of literacy or numeracy programmes at various Cayman Islands Government primary schools through a donation to the schools’ PTA for an identified resource.

The 5K is a walk/run open to all ages, and the 10K is a run only open to participants 16 years of age and up.

CIMA’s Managing Director, Mrs. Cindy Scotland stated, “Although the Authority’s primary function is to protect and enhance the reputation of the Cayman Islands financial services industry, we also take great pride in making a positive difference within our local community through charitable donations over the years. Keeping this in mind, we wanted to make this 20-year milestone celebration extra special by investing in the youth of the Cayman Islands.”

There will also be light refreshments and prizes immediately following the event.
