Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands In honour of World Sea Turtle Day, and as part of its 25th Anniversary celebrations, the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (“CIMA”) proudly sponsored the release of a green sea turtle named “Schooner”.

To commemorate World Sea Turtle Day, the Cayman Turtle Centre: Island Wildlife Encounter (“CTC”) organised a turtle release on 16 June 2022 at the Governor’s Beach.

Commenting on the event, CIMA staff Joelee Powell said, “I’m thankful to have been given the opportunity to represent CIMA at the Cayman Turtle Centre’s turtle release. Despite the rain, it was such an amazing experience, and to witness the school children cheer on “Schooner”,  as he made his way to his new home, is a moment I will treasure forever.”

Other CIMA attendees were Tara Ayres and Dane Campbell.

CIMA is proud to support the CTC in their turtle release and conservation efforts, especially on a day of such significance. As our 25th anniversary celebrations continue, CIMA looks forward to other upcoming activities planned for the coming months including participation in various other community service projects, special initiatives, and events.
