Commemorative CIMA Anniversary Banknotes in Circulation

General Public Notices
Date: Mon, 20 February 2023

The Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (“CIMA”) is pleased to announce the issuance of new D/4 series commemorative $25 and $50 banknotes as part of its 25th anniversary celebration.

Changes to the design include the addition of a holographic foil patch with CIMA’s 25th anniversary logo, which is located to the left of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s effigy, and the signature of the Minister of Finance. Other security features such as a watermark of a turtle, novel serial numbering, and the holograph strip remain unchanged.

The commemorative $50 banknote was put into circulation last week via the retail banks with the $25 banknote to follow soon.

The public is also reminded that it is illegal to print or publish anything in the likeness or appearance of all or part of a banknote. It is also illegal to mutilate, deface or perforate any currency note or coin that is legal tender in the Cayman Islands.
