Statement on the Passing of Queen Elizabeth II

Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands (9 September 2022) The Cayman Islands Monetary Authority ("CIMA" or "the Authority") is deeply saddened by the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and wish to extend our deepest condolences to the Royal Family.

Her Majesty was an extraordinary figure in our culture. She undoubtedly witnessed, wrote and shaped many of the most relevant chapters in history during her 70-year reign, and her passing marks the end of an era. Her life and legacy will be fondly remembered by many around the world.

Following the many queries in the wake of Her Majesty’s passing, please note that all current Cayman Islands banknotes and coins are still legal tender and will remain so until further notice. As we move forward, the public will be kept informed.
