General Industry Notices
Date: Fri, 16 October 2020

The Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (the “Authority”) is advising of an enhancement to the process: Requesting an Extension for Fund Annual Return (FAR) for Mutual Funds. The request process will now be completed using the form FXT-162-22 (the “Form”)1 .

This Form, FXT-162-22 is now available in the REEFS Portal for mutual funds (Registered, Administered, Licensed, Limited Investor, Master and Sub-funds). Effective 1 November 2020, requests for extensions to the filing of the audited financial statements and FAR can only be made using the Form. However, the Authority will, in the interim, continue to accept requests submitted by email to ereporting@cima.ky.

Local cheques (which must be received by the Authority) or escrow payments (from the regulated funds’ Registered/Principal Offices) are the payment methods accepted for the relevant application fee(s)2 .

Should you require guidance in relation to using the Form, or, information about the audit extension request process, please refer to the applicable User Guide or the updated FAQs

As a general reminder, please note that requests for extensions to the filing of the audited financial statements and FAR should be submitted to the Authority prior to the regulated mutual fund’s audit filing deadline to ensure that it remains in good standing.
