Gate.io and Gate Global Corp Not Registered With CIMA

The Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (the “Authority”) hereby issues the following public notice in response to multiple complaints received concerning references to Gate.io and its purported regulation within the Cayman Islands.

The Authority wishes to clarify that Gate.io and Gate Global Corp are not, and have never been, registered, licensed, regulated, or otherwise authorised by the Authority to conduct virtual asset service provider (VASP) business in or from within the Cayman Islands.

Pursuant to Part 2 of the Virtual Asset (Service Providers) Act (2024 Revision) (the “VASP Act”), any entity that conducts, or purports to conduct, virtual asset services as a business or in the course of business, in or from within the Cayman Islands, must be duly registered or licensed by the Authority.

Members of the public are therefore advised to exercise caution when dealing with, or considering any involvement with, Gate.io or Gate Global Corp, particularly where representations are made concerning their regulatory status in the Cayman Islands.

Any persons who have concerns or wish to make a complaint regarding Gate.io or Gate Global Corp are advised to contact the financial crime or regulatory enforcement authorities in their respective jurisdictions.
