Pranav Variava

Head - Investments Supervision Division

Mr. Pranav H. Variava was appointed as Head of the Investments Supervision Division of the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority ("CIMA") effective 1 December 2023. Prior to his appointment, Mr. Variava served as Deputy Head of the Investments Supervision Division since 9 January 2023.

Mr. Variava is responsible for overseeing both on-site and off-site supervision of investment funds and fund administrators domiciled in the Cayman Islands. Providing guidance and strategic direction to the division, he aims to enhance operational processes, exerting a positive influence on both the division and CIMA. His role involves ongoing monitoring of licensees and registrants, as well as addressing enforcement matters.

With an extensive finance background spanning over 14 years, Mr. Variava brings expertise in policymaking, financial services regulation, and oversight and enforcement across diverse capital market products. His multifaceted experience includes regulatory due diligence, policy research, risk-based supervision, financial modeling, corporate finance, valuation, compliance, surveillance, forensic investigations, and combatting financial crime, among other related fields.

He holds a Master's degree in Management Studies (Finance) and another Master's degree in Wealth Management, complementing his Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Telecommunications. Additionally, he earned a Diploma in Industrial Electronics and is accredited as both a Chartered Financial Analyst and a Financial Risk Manager.
