Acting Deputy General Counsel


Ms. Helen Spiegel was appointed as Acting Deputy General Counsel of the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (“CIMA”) effective 16 May 2022.

She joined CIMA as a legal counsel in November 2012 prior to which she practiced law and worked as a trust manager with a focus on Latin America and head of compliance in the structured finance and fund administration industry in the Cayman Islands. Prior to coming to the Cayman Islands in 1993, she practiced law and worked in legal publishing in London.

Ms. Spiegel was educated in Germany and England and read Modern Languages and Law at Downing College, Cambridge University. She was called to the Bar of England and Wales (Middle Temple) and subsequently admitted as a Cayman Islands Attorney-at-Law. She is also a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.
