The Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (“CIMA” or “the Authority”) is pleased to unveil an exclusive first look at the new 2026 Cayman Islands circulating coins. All four denominations (25c, 10c, 5c, and 1c) have been expertly minted by Monnaie de Paris, reflecting the Authority’s commitment to quality, tradition, and international craftsmanship.
For the first time, the obverse side of each coin features a portrait of His Majesty King Charles III, symbolising a new chapter for the Cayman Islands. While the portrait has been updated, the coin weights, dimensions, metallic alloys, and the iconic reverse‑side designs remain unchanged, preserving the familiar look and feel of Cayman’s circulating currency.
The new coins will begin entering circulation next week. Coins featuring Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will continue to be legal tender and are expected to circulate alongside the new 2026 series for the foreseeable future.
CIMA Acting Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Patrick Bodden, welcomed the anticipated release, noting, “Our national currency is more than a medium of exchange, it reflects our history, our identity, and our connection to the wider world. The introduction of these new coins marks an important moment for the Cayman Islands, and we are proud to share this transition with the community.”
Updates on the official release date will be shared on the Authority’s website. A limited‑edition collector’s set, featuring all four denominations sealed in a blister pack, will also be available for purchase later this year, offering the public a unique opportunity to commemorate this historic change.
