Phishing Email Impersonating CIMA Official

The Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (“CIMA”) is aware of an ongoing phishing campaign involving emails that impersonate CIMA’s Chief Operations Officer, Mr. Patrick Bodden, in an attempt to obtain sensitive information.  

The message asks recipients to confirm attached documents for an internal review and to provide contact details if they are not the intended recipient. 

This email is fraudulent and did not originate from the Authority or Mr. Bodden.

The public is reminded that legitimate CIMA email addresses end with @cima.ky. Any email purporting to be from CIMA that uses a different domain should be treated as suspicious.

If you receive a suspicious email or message purporting to be from CIMA, do not respond, click on any links, or open any attachments. Always verify the authenticity of electronic communications, particularly those requesting information or action, even when they appear to come from a CIMA official.

Members of the public and industry stakeholders are urged to report suspected phishing emails or other impersonation attempts to abuse@cima.ky.

CIMA encourages everyone to remain cautious and verify unexpected communications claiming to be from CIMA through its official channels before taking any action.
