Senior Analyst


Reporting to the Chief Analyst, the Senior Analyst is responsible for conducting a full range of onsite inspections of High Risk and Conglomerate Regulated Entities from all Supervisory Divisions. The Senior Analyst will provide day-to-day guidance to junior staff members and assist the Chief Analyst in ensuring that onsite inspections are conducted to a high standard and in compliance with best practices and Regulated Entities’ regulatory requirements. The Senior Analyst will also assist in the development of onsite inspection standards and procedures and where necessary, provide this training to staff members of CIMA.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will:

  • Lead a team of Analysts to inspect Regulated Entities’ on-site records to determine that risk management and business operations are in compliance with relevant acts, regulations and applicable guidance notes;
  • Attend, minutes, and leads various meetings with auditors or Regulated Entities to confirm findings of the on-site inspection; and
  • Review draft inspection plans and reports, including recommendations for improvement based on findings, and follows up to ensure compliance with recommendations.
  • Assist in the completion of projects to ensure divisional supervisory practices and policies are aligned with international standards and best practices;
  • Prepare and deliver relevant and informative internal/external presentations; and
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of procedure manuals and participates in the production of industry statistics.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution – preference given to degrees in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or Economics AND five years’ experience in a relevant position in the financial industry including two years supervisory experience; OR
  • A professional designation in a related field such as Compliance, AML, Risk (including emerging risks such as Cyber and Climate), Accounting, Internal Audit, Finance, Investments/Financial Advice, Insurance, Banking, Securities, Trusts, Digital Assets; and 5 years’ experience in a relevant position in the financial industry including two years supervisory experience.
  • Specific knowledge of auditing and accounting principles, and analytical skills to analyze the implications of financial statements as they relate to financial institutions;
  • Sound knowledge of the Regulatory Framework – Legislation/Policies relating to the onsite examination of financial institutions;
  • Sound Knowledge of the Anti-Money Laundering Regulations (2020 Revision) and the Proceeds of Crime Act (202 Revision) together with other relevant legislation and regulations;
  • Sound knowledge of emerging supervisory techniques, and up-to-date knowledge of domestic and international financial and economic events; and
  • Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills.
