Senior Analyst I & II


Reporting to the Chief Analyst, the Senior Analyst is responsible for conducting a full range of supervisory and monitoring functions for a portfolio of licensees that are assigned based on risk rating and complexity. In addition, the Senior Analyst provides guidance and oversees the work of a team of Analysts to achieve the legislative requirements and the goals and objectives of the Division and CIMA.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The successful candidate will:
  • Gather and analyse quarterly prudential returns, financial statements, and other information (e.g. Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Processes (ICAAPs) to assess capital adequacy and determine prudent business practices and adherence to the requirements of the applicable laws, regulations and regulatory guidelines;
  • Analyse problem institutions and formulate effective strategies on how to remediate and bring them back to compliance;
  • Perform comprehensive risk assessments of all licensees and determine appropriate recommendations for issues of concern;
  • Participate in the drafting and ongoing review/update of the divisional off-site procedural manual;
  • Process applications and prepare submissions for new licence applications or cancellations, change in ownerships, and amendments to the business plan; 
  • Lead a team of analysts to inspect licensee’s on-site records to determine the risk management and business operations including solvency, internal controls, management competency and,  compliance with relevant laws and regulations;
  • Lead meetings with auditors or licensees to confirm findings of the on-site inspection;
  • Oversee completion of pre-inspection and inspection reports, including requirements for improvement based on findings, and follows up to ensure compliance with requirements;
  • Investigate complaints and respond to queries from licensees, other divisions and Overseas Regulatory Authorities;
  • Research, gather, analyse and produce pertinent information to lead or assist with specific projects; and
  • Provides ongoing coaching, technical advice, and guidance to assist Analysts in performing their duties optimally.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (preference given to degrees in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or Economics) and at minimum four years’ experience in a relevant position in the financial industry including three years’ supervisory experience or six years’ previous banking regulatory experience.
  • A professional qualification such as a ACCA, CPA, CAMS, FRM would be an asset.
  • Specific knowledge of auditing and accounting principles and analytical skills to analyse the implications of financial statements as they relate to financial institutions;
  • Knowledge of the Capital Adequacy framework including current international regulatory practices, especially those promulgated by the Bank for International Settlements;
  • Knowledge of the Banks and Trust Companies Act, other relevant Acts, Regulations, Statements of Guidance and Policies relating to the supervision of banks and non-bank financial institutions would be an asset;
  • Excellent public speaking and presentation skills;
  • Ability to identify, monitor and manage issues; and
  • Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office 2010 applications or later, especially MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Salary: CI$77,929 - $94,519 per annum
