Senior Database Administrator
Reporting to the Chief Database Administrator, the Senior Database Administrator works in the team that designs, develops, tests, implements and documents bespoke applications, as well as the modification, enhancement and support of the existing applications and commercial packages. Effectively manage risk in the execution of responsibilities, including the identification and communication of potential risks to their HODs/DHODs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will:
- Installs, configures and maintains SQL servers in production, development and test environments;
- Provides on-going support for all SQL Servers, both production and development/test;
- Creates and Modifies SQL databases as required by the development plans and strategy of the Division;
- Monitors the databases to ensure optimal performance;
- Ensures that data access rights are only granted to staff who has been approved in accordance with CIMA policy;
- Proposes practical and cost-effective recommendations on requirements for backups and emergency procedures;
- Produces and maintains user and system level documentation to the Divisional standards;
- Monitors operational practices to minimize system downtime;
- Researches and implements new database and online technology;
- Installs, configures and maintains SharePoint servers in production, development and test environments;
- Provides on-going support for all SharePoint Servers, both production and development/test;
- Installs, configures and maintains SQL Server reporting Services in production, development and test environments;
- Installs, configures and maintains SQL Server Analysis Services in production, development and test environments;
- Installs, configures and maintains SQL Server Integration Services in production, development and test environments;
- Ensures that data access rights are only granted to staff who has been approved in accordance with CIMA policy;
- Proposes practical and cost-effective recommendations on requirements for backups and emergency procedures.
REQUIREMENTS:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in a field relating to computers; such as computer science, database administration, or Management Information Systems (MIS);
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a database administrator responsible for SQL Servers;
- Certifications in SQL database administration or Windows Server technologies would be an asset;
- Demonstrable SQL Server DBA experience with all current versions of SQL Server;
- Excellent working knowledge of SQL Reporting Services, SQL Analysis Services, SQL Integration Services, SQL Backup and Restore;
- Advanced database and database design concepts;
- Experience and working knowledge of all current versions of SharePoint Server;
- Ability to create custom SharePoint applications and web pages;
- Familiarity with Microsoft .net and ability to read and follow program code to assist in troubleshooting applications especially those that interact with SQL databases;
- Demonstrable knowledge of Windows Server competencies utilizing all current versions of Microsoft Windows Server;
- Basic principles of computer system analysis;
- Ability to utilize all core Microsoft Office products;
- Excellent organizational skills to efficiently accomplish straightforward tasks;
- Knowledge and experience with OLAP Cubes and design;
- Knowledge of database load balancing systems; and
- Experience with database security and encryption.

Salary: CI$92,446 - $114,843 per annum
