Senior Network Administrator


The Senior Network Administrator is responsible for overseeing, configuring, and managing CIMA’s existing computer networks. In addition, the Senior Network Administrator is also responsible for customizing the networks to CIMA’s needs including workstations and file servers, associated operating systems and server-side software, network routers and switches, intrusion and antivirus security, perimeter security appliances and internal and external network communications. As a member of the Network Operations Team the Senior Network Administrator also assists with the day-to-day Help Desk and end-user support functions. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide ongoing support for the entire physical network including cabling, desktop, and server installation, as well as configuration and user setup;
  • Maintain the network and server security to protect CIMA systems and ensure that data access rights are only given to approved staff;
  • Monitor operational practices to minimize system downtime to ensure optimal prime time availability of all network systems;
  • Provide ‘support’ for all reported network, telecommunications, website access, and email related issues;
  • Monitor the help desk software and makes practical recommendations to better provide timely and reliable support to CIMA staff;
  • Configure and maintain all new user endpoints, e.g. desktop PC’s, IP telephones, cell phones, IoT’s, including printers, scanners, copiers and multi-function units;
  • Provide effective technical training sessions to junior staff and/or end users to improve their knowledge and skills;
  • Contribute to the development of user orientation to new staff for the computer applications, CIMA network policies and telephone system;
  • Draft and maintain operations manuals to ensure that operations are always effective and efficient; and
  • Manage records of all users’ problems and errors as well as steps taken to solve the problems. 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or diploma in Computer Science or Information Management or related experience;
  • Six(6) years of experience working as an information systems practitioner within a corporate environment.
  • Direct experience with Microsoft Windows networking, security and disaster recovery from both the hardware and software perspectives;
  • Knowledge of backup strategies, business continuity plans and disaster recovery scenarios;
  • Training, Certification or a proven working knowledge in the following disciplines:
    • Microsoft Windows Server - all current versions;
    • Microsoft Windows Desktop all current versions;
    • Active Directory;
    • Microsoft Exchange Server;
    • Networking concepts including IP Routing, LANS, WANS, SANS and routing protocols, Switches, and Routers;    
    • Endpoint Management Systems such as MS Operations Management Suite; MS Update Services and others;
    • Anti-Virus; Backup and Replication products;
    • VMWare Servers, Clustering, Fault Tolerance, High Availability;
    • Microsoft 365 tools and desktop applications like Power Apps; VBA scripts.
  • Knowledge of the following products would be an asset.  HPE Servers; SAN Storage Management; McAfee EPO, Endpoint Management Software, VMware Vcenter; Help Desk Authority; and User scripting utilizing tools such as Scriptlogic and PowerShell.
